Virtues and Manners

O Allah, I ask You for all that is good, the immediate and the deferred thereof, what I know and what I do not know. And I seek refuge with You from all that is evil, the immediate and the deferred thereof, what I know and what I do not know O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the removal of Your favor, the change of Your well-being, the suddenness of Your calamity, and all of Your wrath O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the dominance of debt, the dominance of the enemy, and the gloat of the enemies O Allah, by You we have reached the morning, and by You we have reached the evening; by You we live, and by You we die, and to You is the Resurrection The strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than the weak believer, and there is good in both If you insist on sitting there, then give the road its due rights. They said: What are its rights? He said: Lowering the gaze, refraining from doing harm (to others), returning the greeting, enjoining what is good, and forbidding what is evil The supplication that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) recited most was: "Allāhumma rabbana ātina fi ad-dunya hasanah wa fi al-ākhirati hasanah wa qina ‘adhāb an-nār (O Allah our Lord, give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good and protect us from the torment of the Fire) The best way of seeking Allah's forgiveness Woe to him who speaks and tells lies so as to make people laugh thereby. Woe to him! Woe to him! O people, spread the greeting of peace, feed others, maintain kinship ties, and pray at night when people are asleep, and you will enter Paradise in peace Allah, the Almighty, says: I am with My slave as long as he remembers Me and his lips move saying My Name Whoever is presented with basil should not decline it. Indeed, it is light to carry and pleasant to smell O Messenger of Allah, who is the best among people? Beware of oppression, for oppression will be layers of darkness on the Day of Judgment; beware of stinginess, as stinginess ruined those before you I guarantee a house on the outskirts of Paradise for the one who refrains from arguing even if he is right A man asked the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him): Which deed in Islam is the best? He said: "Feeding people and extending the greeting of peace to those you know and those you do not know The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about the foremost deed that leads people to Paradise, and he replied: Fear of Allah and good character. Then, he was asked about the most things that lead people into Hellfire, and he said: The tongue and the private parts He who gives in charity the value of a date which was lawfully earned, and Allah only accepts that which has been lawfully earned, then Allah will accept it with His right hand and nurture it for him, just as one of you nurtures his foal, until it becomes like a mountain Whenever the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) went to his bed, he would blow into his hands, recite the Mu‘awwidhāt, and then pass his hands over his body Praise be to Allah Who gave us food and drink, provided for us sufficiently, and gave us shelter, for how many there are who have no one to provide for them or to give them shelter
