wal-nāziʿāti gharqan
By those who extract violently
2
wal-nāshiṭāti nashṭan
And those who draw out gently
3
wal-sābiḥāti sabḥan
And those who glide swimming
4
fal-sābiqāti sabqan
And those who race each other (in) a race
5
fal-mudabirāti amran
And those who arrange (the) matter
6
yawma tarjufu l-rājifatu
(The) Day will quake the quaking one
7
tatbaʿuhā l-rādifatu
Follows it the subsequent
8
qulūbun yawma-idhin wājifatun
Hearts that Day will palpitate
9
abṣāruhā khāshiʿatun
Their eyes humbled
10
yaqūlūna a-innā lamardūdūna fī l-ḥāfirati
They say Will we indeed be returned to the former state
11
a-idhā kunnā ʿiẓāman nakhiratan
What! When we are bones decayed
12
qālū til'ka idhan karratun khāsiratun
They say This then (would be) a return losing
13
fa-innamā hiya zajratun wāḥidatun
Then only it (will be) a shout single
14
fa-idhā hum bil-sāhirati
And behold They (will be) awakened
15
hal atāka ḥadīthu mūsā
Has (there) come to you (the) story (of) Musa
16
idh nādāhu rabbuhu bil-wādi l-muqadasi ṭuwan
When called him his Lord in the valley the sacred (of) Tuwa
17
idh'hab ilā fir'ʿawna innahu ṭaghā
Go to Firaun Indeed, he (has) transgressed
18
faqul hal laka ilā an tazakkā
And say Would [for] you [to] [that] purify yourself
19
wa-ahdiyaka ilā rabbika fatakhshā
And I will guide you to your Lord so you would fear
20
fa-arāhu l-āyata l-kub'rā
Then he showed him the sign the great
21
fakadhaba waʿaṣā
But he denied and disobeyed
22
thumma adbara yasʿā
Then he turned his back striving
23
faḥashara fanādā
And he gathered and called out
24
faqāla anā rabbukumu l-aʿlā
Then he said I am your Lord the Most High
25
fa-akhadhahu l-lahu nakāla l-ākhirati wal-ūlā
So seized him Allah (with) an exemplary punishment (for) the last and the first
26
inna fī dhālika laʿib'ratan liman yakhshā
Indeed in that surely (is) a lesson for whoever fears
27
a-antum ashaddu khalqan ami l-samāu banāhā
Are you a more difficult creation or the heaven He constructed it
28
rafaʿa samkahā fasawwāhā
He raised its ceiling and proportioned it
29
wa-aghṭasha laylahā wa-akhraja ḍuḥāhā
And He darkened its night and brought out its brightness
30
wal-arḍa baʿda dhālika daḥāhā
And the earth after that He spread it
31
akhraja min'hā māahā wamarʿāhā
He brought forth from it its water and its pasture
32
wal-jibāla arsāhā
And the mountains He made them firm
33
matāʿan lakum wali-anʿāmikum
(As) a provision for you and for your cattle
34
fa-idhā jāati l-ṭāmatu l-kub'rā
But when comes the Overwhelming Calamity the great
35
yawma yatadhakkaru l-insānu mā saʿā
(The) Day will remember man what he strove (for)
36
waburrizati l-jaḥīmu liman yarā
And will be made manifest the Hellfire to (him) who sees
37
fa-ammā man ṭaghā
Then as for (him) who transgressed
38
waāthara l-ḥayata l-dun'yā
And preferred the life (of) the world
39
fa-inna l-jaḥīma hiya l-mawā
Then indeed the Hellfire it (is) the refuge
40
wa-ammā man khāfa maqāma rabbihi wanahā l-nafsa ʿani l-hawā
But as for (him) who feared standing (before) his Lord and restrained his soul from the vain desires
41
fa-inna l-janata hiya l-mawā
Then indeed Paradise it (is) the refuge
42
yasalūnaka ʿani l-sāʿati ayyāna mur'sāhā
They ask you about the Hour when (is) its arrival
43
fīma anta min dhik'rāhā
In what (are) you [of] (to) mention it
44
ilā rabbika muntahāhā
To your Lord (is) its finality
45
innamā anta mundhiru man yakhshāhā
Only you (are) a warner (for him) who fears it
46
ka-annahum yawma yarawnahā lam yalbathū illā ʿashiyyatan aw ḍuḥāhā
As though they (the) Day they see it not they had remained except an evening or a morning thereof
