Virtues and Manners

If anyone kills a gecko in the first strike will have one hundred good deeds recorded for him; and with the second strike lesser than that and with the third strike lesser than that No woman among you loses three of her children to death except that they will screen her from Hellfire Any Muslim who loses three of his children will not be touched by the Fire except in fulfillment of the oath Any Muslim who loses (to death) three children before reaching puberty will be admitted by Allah into Paradise because of his being merciful to them If a man says: People are ruined, he himself will be the most ruined among them all When two people insult each other, the one who started will be the sinner until the oppressed exceeds the limits A man was brought to him, and it was said: This is so-and-so, and his beard is dripping with wine. Thereupon he said: We have been prohibited from spying. However, if we see something evident, we will act upon it It is unlawful for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three (days); so whoever abandons more than three then dies will enter the Hellfire Verily, Allah tortures those who torture people in this world Whoever beats his slave boy or slaps him for something that he has not done, then the expiation for that is to set him free Why do you sit in pathways? Avoid sitting in pathways The first to be judged on the Day of Judgment is a man who was martyred. He will be brought and Allah will remind him of His favor [upon him], which he will recognize. Allah will say: What did you do as a token of gratitude for that favor? He will say: I fought for Your sake until I was martyred What do you think of a man who does a good deed and people praise him for it? He said: That is instant good news for the believer The sanctity of the wives of the Mujāhids for those who stay behind is like the sanctity of their own mothers I asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) about the sudden glance, and he commanded me to avert my gaze Cover the vessels, fasten the waterskins, close the doors, and extinguish the lamps, for, indeed, the devil does not loosen waterskins, nor open doors, nor uncover vessels O people, he who knows about something, let him say it. And he who does not know should say: Allah knows best. It is part and parcel of knowledge that a man who does not know something should say: Allah knows best The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) forbade that a man wears his shoes while standing Do not curse the fever, for it removes the sins of the children of Adam the same way the bellows remove the impurities of iron The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) commanded licking the fingers and the dish (after eating), and he said: You do not know in which portion the blessing lies
